Certified Operator's Tactical Shield Program

Who Should Attend
Law Enforcement Officers assigned to, or who may work with, tactical shields, as well as those considering the purchase and use of this type of equipment. Basic firearms proficiency is a prerequisite.

The class includes classroom and hands-on instruction and will provide instruction on the following topics, among others:

• Introduction to Tactical Hand Shields
• Basic Hand Shield Deployment
• Basic Shield Needs
• Fundamental Clearing Techniques
• Advanced Team Tactics
• Stacking
• Multiple Shooters
• Officer Down Rescue/Victim Recovery

Student Equipment:
Attire is full duty callout gear, including tactical helmet and vest. Eye and hearing safety equipment are required. Officers should bring tactical shield, if available. Handgun ammunition is required. Long gun ammunition is optional. A second handgun and/or duty rig on support side is a desired option, as are protective masks.

Tactical Shield Instructor's Certification Program

The Training Academy of BAE Systems is pleased to announce Tactical Shield Instructor Certification training, available through Tactical Shield Programs. The Four-Day training is structured to provide classroom and hands-on training. Mornings are devoted to classroom instruction, which is reinforced with practical range application in the afternoon. The first day covers fundamentals and individual skills; the second day addresses advanced skills such officer-down rescues. The third and fourth day will be devoted to the students doing presentations in the classroom and on the range. A Tactical Shield Instructor's field manual will be provided for each student; students must provide their own ammunition. Students must pass a practical firearms qualification exercise and successfully complete a written examination. Students will be evaluated on their knowledge of the topic, instructional skills and safety considerations. The courses are limited to current military or law enforcement personnel and include prerequisites for the class. Cost per student is $495.
