Transition from Monadnock® Training Council to Safariland Training Group

May 5, 2010

Dear Monadnock Instructor, Instructor-Trainer and International Instructors,

With the restructuring of the company into Safariland, LLC, the Monadnock Training Council has merged into the Safariland Training Group (STG). As a result, STG has enacted policies and practices, some of which will affect how we provide the former Monadnock training programs to others at either a criminal justice agency or private security companies.

STG reserves all rights to MEB, PR-24 or MDTS courseware. STG has exclusive authority for scheduling and conducting MEB, PR-24 and MDTS Instructor level courses through its Host-A-Program or continuing education (CE) services. Criminal justice agencies or private security companies (“third-party entities”) may seek specific training regimens in order to meet their operational objectives. These third-party entities maintain administrative control over their program content and skills taught to certify their personnel for competency in the respective discipline.

In order to support you and guide you in continuing to provide programs based on MEB, PR-24 or MDTS training, we will outline the STG procedures as follows:

  1. Safariland is not responsible for certification of third-party entities. The third-party entities are responsible for the Monadnock program information and skills that are instructed (e.g., the entire MEB Advanced Course or any portion therein) as it pertains to their personnel for Basic Training or In-Service Training, or to train personnel in order to satisfy on-going operational objectives. The third-party entities will establish their own documentation practices to record skill competency associated with in-service/recruit (MEB, PR-24 or MDTS) training for the purpose of personnel training and issuance of End User Certificate. STG will continue to maintain Basic Instructor records as they pertain to STG sanctioned courses only.
  2. Monadnock program courseware may continue to serve the instructional requirements of the third-party entities, but the third-party entities will exclusively determine the utilization when training its personnel. For example, a third-party entity may want personnel to know and perform all skills associated with an MEB Advanced Course, or only certain of those skills in accordance with its applicable general orders. STG assumes no liability for any non–STG sanctioned course. Any proficiency or written tests however, must be re-branded by the third-party entity in the specific use of authorizations or certifications issued by the third-party entity.
  3. STG will only recognize coordinated Instructor level courses conducted by, contracted by and approved by STG Master level trainers (formerly known as International Instructors) and Senior Instructors (formerly know as Instructor Trainers). Courses conducted by third parties, not approved under the STG cadre of Master Level Trainer guidelines, are not sanctioned.

Please understand that Safariland Training Group will continue to provide program support to you and the criminal justice agency or private security companies.

The Safariland Training Group may be contacted at 904-993-6909, via e-mail at: chuck.martin@baesystems.com regarding this notice or to make inquiry into its Host-A-Program or CE services for the MEB, PR-24 or MDTS program.

We appreciate the service you have provided others through Monadnock programs in the past and hope to continue working with you in the future as Safariland Training Group.

Sincerely,

Sandy Wall
Director of Training
